Among other things…..elk, aliens, giant pistachios, etc. We started our turn back to Texas stopping at several interesting sites along the way in Arizona and New Mexico. We stayed at a couple of really nice national forest campgrounds, drove by one of the world’s premier astronomical radio sites on the plains of New Mexico, stopped at Pistachio Land, home of the world’s largest pistachio, and camped at the Valley of Fires National Monument which sits beside a molten rock lava flow that formed when Little Black Peak erupted about 5,000 years ago. The lava flowed for about 44 miles into the basin.
