Back in Texas!

There’s nothing quite like getting back to your home state! We planned to hit Big Bend Ranch State Park one more time while the weather was not too hot. It felt good though to be back in some warmth. It seems our last month has been rather windy and cool for the most part. The courthouse pictured above is in Hudspeth County Texas. The building is the only adobe courthouse in Texas and dates to 1919. A few of the “official vehicles” parked outside the courthouse look a little dated as well!

We headed toward Fort Davis and stayed in a beautiful free campground near Madera Canyon. The Says Phoebe put on quite a show for us at the campground and David got some amazing shots!

We awoke the next morning to dark skies, some rain, and lightning but it made for a beautiful drive along the scenic highway on our way to Marathon where we once again landed at the Gage before heading back into the park. The winds were expected to be in excess of 40 to 50 mph so we decided a campground was not the place to be during that!

  1. Of course the squad car looks like it came right out of The Andy Griffith show. Bird pictures look like something out of Nat Geo. Great pics!
