Pickup day!
Well “Y’all”, the big day finally arrived and were we ever ready. We got to Sportsmobile at ten for our scheduled orientation around our new home. We spent an hour with Cody going over the systems and features of the vehicle. As we went around the vehicle the realization that smacks me in the face is how unprepared I am and how much I have yet to learn. By the time Cody is finished there are three pages of notes taken in rushed cursive that attest to this fact. Hopefully, with Rebecca’s patient endurance we will make it over the hump in the steep learning curve. When we left, Rebecca drove the pace car in front of K2-R2 back to Lindy and Jason’s house. At their house we left the car and Rebecca and I took our first drive together down to New Braunfels. She asked me about some illuminated dashboard switches about the time an oil pressure alert bleated over the ambient squeaks, rattles and rolls. Assuring her that all was copasetic we drove on to the Travel America truck stop where the nearest certified Cat scales were located and weighed the van to get a baseline unloaded. While filling the van with fuel I noticed that Rebecca had been right, the differential locking switches were in the “on position” actuated by my knee. With the toggle switches in the appropriate “off position” we made a stop at a quick lube to ascertain the adequacy of the oil level. Reassured by the technician we returned to Jason and Lindy’s house. On the way we discussed a plan of action to deal with the oil pressure sending unit malfunction. We got back and “popped” it up for the first time in Lindy and Jason’s driveway and worked on loading it up.

Put Pittsboro NC on your radar! We should have a house mid September!
Just make sure when you are looking at the outdoor temperature (if equipped) that you are looking at the temperature and not the trip odometer. You don’t want to be thinking that the temp is rising as you are ascending a mountain pass!
