The next morning we said our sad goodbyes to the boys as they boarded the school bus. The K2R2 was spun up and we left towards our campground in West Virginia at Blackwater Falls where it rained all night. The drive was gray and sullen as the clouds spit snow, rain and often a wintery mix of both.

At Blackwater Falls we woke up early the next morning to a dense fog as the temperature had risen during the night. Slowly we headed out for a very scenic drive on the Robert Byrd Skyway West Virginia Highway 48 which is a segment of the Appalachian Corridor (AKA Byrd’s highway to nowhere.) Along the way we passed through the world of coal mines, lumber, and charcoal industries.

Our journey was drawing to a close as we stopped at Lake Cumberland State Park Resort in Kentucky for our final night.

Our arrival into Bartlett Bill’s house was early enough for him to get a very happy Daisy who joined us for Thursday night Football.
And it was morning and evening the seventh day!
