It was time for the K2R2 to head out again and we headed out to west Texas, one of our favorite places in the state. After a stopover at South Llano River State Park we headed to Guadalupe National Park to the north side, Dog Canyon. We were pleasantly surprised at the amount of fall color that was already visible in the hills, thanks to the bigtooth maples present in the otherwise desert terrain.

We enjoyed a great day hike on the Bush Mountain Trail to the Marcus Overlook where we had commanding views into the Guadalupe Mountains. We also strolled on the Indian Meadow nature trail where we got glimpses of Mule Deer and some wild turkeys.

David got some amazing nighttime shots in the west Texas sky!

Looks like UFO’s in the Jupiter picture. Hard to believe there is that much color in West Texas
