As we left New York we took a completely different route than our usual trek back south. We decided to head over to the Eastern coast and travel down that ways a little bit. Our first stop was Cunningham Falls State Park in Maryland near the Gettysburg Battlefield site. The park had just opened for the season and we were one of only a couple of campers that made for a nice quiet stay. We did have some company when we set out our little platform feeder and we enjoyed the antics of some familiar feathered friends,

Cunningham Falls State park sits in the picturesque Catoctin Mountains and is also home to the historic Catoctin Iron Furnace. Besides visiting Gettysburg we did a little hiking in the Catoctin National Park.
