Trout Fishing and Cabins

On our trek from the frozen north back southward we opted to stay in cabins in West Virginia and Kentucky because we encountered yet another winter storm. Our first stop was at the Smoke Hole Caverns Resort and cabins. This was the second time we had stayed at these cabins. They have a trout stream and trout pond and a guide to assist you. We had not fished on our previous stay so we decided to give it a try this time and we had so much fun. And you can’t not catch fish! We caught 6 good size fish, wish we would have caught more! We had a delicious trout dinner in the cabin that night and had enough to take to Tom & Patty’s for a fish dinner with them. It was delicious!!!!

Fresh trout with Meuniere sauce, arugula salad, and butternut squash soup that Julie sent with us.

Our cabin in Kentucky was located in the Red River Gorge area. We were scheduled for 2 distillery tours near Lexington but the weather cancelled our tours so we spent time in the cabin watching movies, working on the blog, and enjoying the hot tub.
