Rim Drives

We headed into the Lincoln National Forest to drive along and camp on 2 forest service roads overlooking the Guadalupe Rim and Dog Canyon portion of Guadalupe National Park. It’s a slow affair traveling on the bumpy gravel road but the views looking off the rim are well worth it! Our first night was a very windy one but the second night the winds died down and we even enjoyed a campfire.

We then headed to Dog Canyon campground in the Guadalupe National Park for a couple of nights. David and Tom took a conditioning hike to get Tom ready for his Guadalupe Peak hike which was coming up.

The morning we left for the Pine Springs campground in the southern part of the park an incredible fog rolled in and spilled over the mountains. As we drove out of the canyon we were soon engulfed in the fog.
