Although Bent’s Old Fort was closed for repairs we stopped and walked around the outside under some dark clouds. When open the Fort has docents dressed in period attire preforming routine activities and will take time to willingly answer any questions you may have about life at the trading post.

We drove though La Junta where Cynthia, John and Brian lived for a very short while and turned north towards Wyoming and the meat of our adventure begins!

Bent’s Old Fort and New Fort are very interesting, especially after reading a historical book about it.
While I was driving I needed to do a lane change and as I looked to my side view mirror all I could see was David leaning forward looking out the mirror. This blocked my view and I told David it was very annoying having him check the mirror for me.
