North to New York (Part 2)

We pulled up stakes around sunrise only to have our progress retarded by heavy fog but we still managed to arrive within ten minutes of our appointed tour time. The tour was great. Drinking bourbon in the morning was something none of us had ever done before and proved to be an interesting experience.

We then had lunch in the distillery restaurant prior to driving to our encampment at Blue Lick State Park northeast of Lexington. But wait… first, we had to make a detour into Bardstown for a visit to the Blind Pig bourbon shop!

The last battle of the American revolution was fought here in 1782 where the British and Indian forces defeated the American frontier militia. Daniel Boone was captured and his son Israel was killed in the battle.
