Our stop at the maple museum was educational and SWEET! We learned all about the history of the maple industry and there was an extensive collection of maple sugaring artifacts. Afterwards we had a maple syrup tasting of the different grades of maple syrup. And of course we couldn’t get out of there without purchasing a few goodies!

Now I see why maple syrup costs so much. 40 gallons of sap for 1 gallon of pure syrup. I wonder what happens to the trees over time after they’ve been tapped numerous times. Does the old tap hole mend up and be able to use again? Or are there numerous taps holes all over the tree? does the tree eventually die or can it be tapped over and over? I like those old syrup cans. That would be a nice find at an antique store. Expensive too.
