We arrived back into Pinedale and treated ourselves to a hotel room so we could be near all the activities and have easy parking and catch up on some needed to do items. Since 1936, Pinedale has been hosting this festival to celebrate legendary mountain men such as Jim Bridger and Kit Carson. The Green River Rendezvous was an annual event in the 1830’s where trappers, mountain men, Indians, and travelers gathered in a valley below the Green River to barter, trade, sell, and swap goods such as skins, pelts, guns, jewelry and other supplies that were needed for the upcoming winter. It was a time for story swapping, seeing old friends, getting supplies, drinking, and general rowdiness.

We walked to the living history museum in the afternoon to see the mountain men setting up their camps and had an informative conversation with a couple of the participants.

Our last day in town David went on a guided fishing trip on the Green River. He left about 7AM and returned about 4 and had a great time. It was all catch and release and he caught several fish including a nice size brown trout. I meanwhile went back out and did a little more shopping. My possibles bags are overflowing, there is hardly room in the van for us.

On to Colorado tomorrow!

Glad ya’ll went back for the rendezvous. Those guys really look like they have authentic clothing from the era. I mean I know they do as they most likely trapped/killed the animals and made the buckskin clothing and other garments.
