Casa San Pedro Stopover

We drove from New Mexico to Arizona intending to stop in the Coronado National Forest to camp but surprisingly the several campgrounds we had earmarked to stop at were already full for the day. Spring breaks are beginning and the area is a major birding hotspot. So we called up Casa San Pedro B&B where we have been before for birding and they had rooms available, lucky for us as once again we were encountering high winds. We stayed for 2 nights, hit our past favorite spots for birding, and enjoyed their delicious breakfasts. Spring migration hasn’t quite started yet but we did manage to see a few early arrivals and some colorful regular residents. Along the way to the Casa we stopped at the marker about Geronimo and we visited the Chiricahua Desert Museum which had a giant rattlesnake iron sculpture, an impressive nature and bird garden, and a great gift shop!
