Busy Week!

We made a big sweeping trip up to Tennessee from Texas and then turned around to go back to Texas by way of Mississippi and Louisiana. In Memphis we helped with a variety of chores of which the highlight was installing an owl box in my parents backyard in the hopes of attracting a barred owl. We also enjoyed taking my Daddy fishing and celebrating Mother’s Day with my dear sweet Mother. All 5 of us siblings were able to be there which was quite a feat.

On our way back to Texas we saw a barred owl at out campground in Mississippi! We took the scenic route through the Mississippi Delta, drove a portion of the Mississippi River Levee Road, and experienced some backroads through Louisiana and East Texas where we drove along the original route of the El Camino Real. It is a national historic 2,500 mile overlanding thoroughfare of the 18th century that connected Mexico to Louisiana with missions and presidios along the way.

  1. We all had a great time during your visit as well. Already working on the next chores list. I hope so badly that we can attract a barred owl. What a magnificent looking bird. That trail looks great and it looks that only a K2R2 could traverse that road.
