We’re headed back to Texas for most of the month of October for the all important birthday celebrations of several grandchildren plus other items of business like voting and our post pickup Sportsmobile punch list. We made a brief sojourn in Arkansas on the way down staying at Shady Lake campground in the Ouachita National Forest. It was our first really chilly night so we decided to make chili only we were missing one key ingredient….chili powder! But we improvised with various seasonings on hand and some canned chilies and it turned out really tasty. We also had a campfire and even had to turn on the heater the next morning.

Nice! Love the picture of the fire and the sparks looking like bolts. And the turkeys! Maybe one will end up on our Thanksgiving table. I bet the chili was good. I am ready for some chili soon. We had soup which was outstanding and now it is getting warm again….too warm for chili. Have a safe trip!!
Looks cozy!
