Gila National Forest

We had a plan to spend some time in the Gila National Forest. It was a nice change to be back in the trees after the desert landscape. The roads were curvy and we have never seen the likes of the number of bullet holes in the signs along the road, makes you wonder???? Anyway, we spent 2 nights in the southern end of the forest staying first at Upper End Campground then at Grapevine Campground on the banks of the Gila River and we visited the Gila Cliff Dwellings which were fascinating. Cold and windy weather spurred us on to seek warmer climes in Arizona.
